Truly Madly Deeply. My favourite film of all time... about appreciating what we have - about love, loss and joy... is has it all. Here are some clips from the film on You Tube Clips The clips aren't good quality but if you've seen the film and love it you'll enjoy these extracts including the 'what's happened to our capacity to love?' speech. If you haven't seen the film buy it Here |
If you have never seen Richard Attenborough's film Gandhi, you have a remarkable treat in store. And if you have seen it then it's worth seeing again. This is one of the few films that I've watched many times. It took Attenborough ten years to make. If I could make one film compulsory viewing in schools then this would be my choice. Kundun Directed by Martin Scorsese. The film itself chronicles the life of The Dalai Lama from his discovery at the age of 2 to post WWII, where Mao-led China declares that Tibet is a Chinese province and forcably annexes Tibet, leading to the Dalai Lama's exile in India. Cry Freedom A dramatic re-telling of the life of South African anti-apartheid activist Stephen Biko, as seen through the eyes of his friend, liberal white newspaper editor, Donald Woods. A devastating indictment of racial oppression in South Africa. Could you and I have been this brave? Watch the trailer here |

| Pay it Forward. Yes, it seems absurd to put a second rate Hollywood movie under these great lives. But the manager of my local video store says that more people have come in and said that this film has made a direct impact on their lives than any other film. People see this film and go out and take action as a result. If you see it you'll see why. Watch the trailer here | |
| Touching the Void This is the ultimate 'just keep going' film. Just keep taking small steps - one at a time. In this film he keeps going even when he's given up hope. Perseverance beyond his own logic. Just keep going. Apply it to any situation. 20 minutes at a time. If you even feel like giving up you may suddenly remember this film...Watch the trailer here | |
Groundhog Day In case you ever think that you've not quite worked out the point of being on the planet, why everything seems to go wrong, why we never seem to get what we want, and why **** happens - this film has the answer. You'll laugh - and it explains why we're here. The trailer is better here Trailer on You Tube |

Jesus of Montreal This was released in 1989. It's simply beautiful and has always been one of my favourites. If you know the stories of the Gospel you'll enjoy it even more but if you don't it is still one of those films that will touch you with its vulnerability. An appeal to truth and honesty. Very special. Watch the trailer here |

Films that have made a difference to you or that you use a source of inspiration... please let me know and if many people choose the same films then I'll put them on the list. Thank you. x i.
