"Foyle's Bookshop in London's Charing Cross Road has long been one of my favourite places. I first discovered it in the late 1960s and ever since then I have made a habit of calling to the store every time I am in London. A trip to the city that didn't include a visit to Foyle's would be like riding a bicycle without wheels, or eating soup with a fork.
I love wandering through the high canyons of shelves on its many floors, browsing books on every subject under the sun. I love the humour section on the ground floor, and the travel writing of course, and the maps; really, I love all of it. I never cease to wonder that Foyle's manages to last the pace in this era of greed, given that it sits on one of London's most valuable pieces of land, but I hope that it continues to survive and prosper. Be sure to support Foyle's if you are in London, so that it will be there for future generations. This is one of England's finest bookshops; treasure it!"
